Standing in the Gap

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land…”Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)

Devotional:
Intercession is more than a prayer assignment—it’s a calling. It’s a spiritual act of warfare, love, and sacrifice. To stand in the gap means to position yourself between heaven and earth, lifting others before God when they may not know how or be able to pray for themselves.

When God looks for someone to pray—someone to stand, plead, and declare—He’s looking for you. Your prayers may feel unseen, but they are powerful beyond measure. You may never know the full extent of the lives impacted by your willingness to pray.

Intercession builds spiritual hedges around families, communities, ministries, and even nations. It stops the enemy’s plans, releases God’s will, and opens doors for deliverance, healing, and breakthrough. Sister, never underestimate the call on your life to be an intercessor. When you pray, heaven listens—and hell backs down.

The role of an intercessor is sacred. It requires persistence, spiritual sensitivity, and a heart burdened with the concerns of others. When you say, “I will pray,” you become a spiritual gatekeeper—one who stands between the enemy’s plans and God’s promises. You are a lifeline for someone who doesn’t even realize how much they are being covered. You are helping birth God’s will into the earth. Intercession is Kingdom work, and it holds eternal weight.

Reflection:
→ Who is God calling me to intercede for in this season?
→ How can I remain faithful in my assignment as an intercessor?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the privilege of standing in the gap. Burden my heart for what burdens Yours. Teach me to pray selflessly, powerfully, and persistently for those You’ve assigned to me. Use me as a vessel of change. In Jesus’ name, amen.
